However, there are certain flowers that are great to work with, and they are proven winners for a wedding. Florists put in a lot of work to make your flowers beautiful and long-lasting on your wedding day. Our goal is for your flowers to look healthy and hydrated from delivery until the end of the night. In some cases, your flowers can also last a few more days after the wedding with proper care. Although some of the most beautiful flowers are delicate and not expected to last more than a few days after cutting, there are several tried and true wedding flowers that are strong and long lasting. If you’re wanting long-lasting flowers for a wedding, take these flowers into consideration!
Succulents
Succulents are a great option to have for a long-lasting wedding flower! Succulents hold their water in their petals, so they do not need a water source when used in bouquets, boutonnieres or corsages. After the wedding, you can also re-root the succulent into a pot with dirt to keep your succulent for many years to come! This is a great way to save a living keepsake and beautiful memory of your wedding day.
Roses
Roses are a classic wedding choice, and they come in many colors and styles. If you think you don’t like roses, look again! With so many color and variety options, you may find something you fall in love with. Many roses take 2-3 days to full open, and sometimes their heads will continue to open for a few days after your wedding. As long as the stems of the roses are cut and left in clean water, they can be a long-lasting flower for your wedding.
Carnations
Yes, you read that right…Carnations are the perfect choice for a long-lasting wedding flowers. Carnations have always gotten a bad rap, but let’s change that! With the proper conditioning and styling, carnations will look chic and elegant. They are also long lasting out of water, so they are great for outdoor installations or for a pop of color in a bouquet. Carnations are also a great way to add color and fullness to bouquets and installations while staying in budget.
Dahlia
If your wedding is in the late summer or fall, Dahlias are one of the best flowers to choose. They come in many different colors and shapes, and some of the blooms are as big as dinner plates! Dahlia’s are a great option to add to bouquets or centerpieces. With care, they will last in a vase for up to 14 days.
Hydrangea
Hydrangea are a very popular choice for weddings because of their fullness and beauty. Hydrangeas can be finicky out of water, but don’t let that scare you out of choosing them for your wedding flowers. They can be used in installations and centerpieces when a source of water is used. They can also be used in your bouquet, but make sure to set the bouquet back into it’s vase when you’re not using it. Hydrangea in a vase with clean water can last up to 9 days.
